Which pop icon is getting a Netflix mini-series?

The Queen of Pop is heading to the small screen.

Netflix has confirmed development of a new limited series based on the life and career of Madonna, signaling a fresh take on the pop icon’s legacy — and an entirely separate project from the long-rumored biopic she was previously directing with Universal.

According to early reports, Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna) is the top contender to play Madonna — a role she was also expected to take in the now-paused film version. Meanwhile, the series will be executive produced by Shawn Levy, known for Stranger Things and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine.

The project is still in early production and has no release date yet, but it’s already making headlines — especially with rumors that Madonna’s original biopic has been shelved indefinitely.

It seems Netflix will now be the one to tell the Material Girl’s story.
